I've always been driven by artistic design and where it meets technical function and how the two depend on each other for either to be successful.  This holds true for architecture, music, and interface design to name a few artistic yet technically dependent crafts.  I mention these three in particular as I have spent a good part of my life and passion developing understanding and application principles to help solve the artistic and technical issues intertwined within these professions.  There is a delicate balance between form and function as too much emphasis on either element leads to failure on one side or the other.  My experience has placed me in all facets of the process, and often all of them at the same time.  It's a perpetual journey of learning and experience that can be both humbling and inspiring at times.
Throughout my architectural college years I worked in the trades, primarily as an electrician but served time as both a surveyor and carpenter as well.  My trade experience greatly enriched my understanding of the building process from other perspectives.  These experiences continue to enhance my skill as a designer and draftsman and have been invaluable in my career progression.
My career has taken me in many directions all of which have revolved around design.  Architecture has been a thread of continuity throughout most of it.   I have spent time designing logos, websites, interactive presentations and video compositions.  I have spent an enormous amount of time creating 3D renderings and animations for both architecture and other marketing and visualization efforts for both private and public sector clients.  I have used 3d rendering and animation as a powerful tool to depict intangible concepts and ideas for DARPA research projects, marketing concepts, and architectural designs to clients.  I have used AutoCAD extensively for architecture, civil, and mechanical drawings.
In recent years I have focused almost entirely on architectural design and construction document production.  This is where I want to concentrate all of my efforts going forward.  I am knowledgeable in the VRC building code in particular.  I am fluent in AutoCAD, Microstation, 3DS MAX, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
The Projects section includes a few examples of my Architectural work showing both 3D and 2D construction document and design production efforts.
I am driven and deadline oriented.  I am eager to learn new things and work well within a team environment.  I have worked for my self for many years as well and am comfortable working autonomously.  I have also managed corporate teams as well as consultants throughout my career.
See my Resume page for additional detail on my work experience and history.
I am a musician with skills as a drummer, guitarist, singer, and songwriter.  I am an avid outdoorsman and Jeep enthusiast.  I have a passion for boats and anything that has to do with the water.  I'm a bit of a mechanic and tinkerer and, as far as I know, reasonably fun to be around :D
